Overview
Online VDU Assessments, also known as Display Screen Equipment (DSE) Risk Assessments, are a legal obligation outlined in the “2007 General Application Regulations.” Our comprehensive Online VDU/DSE Assessments cater specifically to remote workers who operate from home, ensuring compliance and reducing workplace injuries.
Who Should Have a VDU Assessment?
Any employee that spends more than one hour per day at a workstation should get an assessment completed. Also, employees who have not been assessed within a two year period should also be assessed or if an employee’s medical or working situation has changed since they were last assessed should also be re-assessed. These changes could include Illness, Injury, pregnancy or if the location or setup of the user has changed.
Benefits of VDU Assessments
- Allow the employer to meet his legal requirements
- Reduce the amount and severity of receptive strain injuries
- Allows employers to get better understanding of Office issue in relation to workstation set ups, including ventilation and lighting
- Provide a safer and happier place to work by removing underlying issues
- Reduces stressing and fatigue factors related to the work environment
- Allows the employer to identify and put in place any extra training and information that may be required for employees.
Duration & Assessment
Each individual completes a self-assessment form and engages in a 15-20 minute online meeting to evaluate their workstation, considering their specific requirements or pre-existing injuries. Once the assessment is completed, comprehensive reports are forwarded to the employer to help them understand what issues have been identified and what fixes need to be completed.
Certification
We provide a detailed report that fulfills legislative requirements, and it is recommended to renew the VDU assessment process when:
- An employee’s job responsibilities change, impacting their daily workload
- There is a desk relocation or modification
- Physical abilities of the employee undergo changes
Requirements
Active participation from the individual being assessed is crucial to maximize the assessment’s effectiveness. It is necessary for the person to have access to a camera to showcase their VDU/DSE workstation to the assessor.
